Corporate Relocation Solutions
A majority of larger companies and corporations make a habit of “headhunting” within their existing ranks. This may require an existing staff member to relocate in order to enjoy a new job opportunity or promotion. While this is a great opportunity for all involved it is going to require that employee to pick up their home and move it to another location. If they have a family this can get very complicated.
Fortunately, so many companies have had to do this so often that there are now corporate solutions for moving and relocating staff. They don’t just show up and pack up the home however, but provide a comprehensive relocation service that does everything from market the home that needs to be sold to helping the employee find the best preschool in the new location.
How does it work? Usually a company or corporation uses the services of a third party provider that specializes in relocations. This company meets independently with the employee, and any family, to determine what they are going to need to complete the move with the least amount of frustration or effort.
Usually this means that several “team” members are assigned to the task and they each handle separate areas of the move. For instance there will probably be a “pre-moving” team in charge of everything from cataloging and packing up the household possessions to helping the family arrange for the sale of the home. If there is no property to sell, the team can negotiate a lease or rental contract cancellations and continue with the moving process.
There will also be a “destination” team whose jobs are even more extensive. This group of people will be able to help the employee locate a new home, identify several viable mortgage solutions and arrange for the closing. If the purchase of a new home is not possible, the team can find rental properties and make the arrangements for assuming the lease. Once the employee, and their family, have arrived the destination team will give them an orientation tour and work with the spouse or partner should they need support in finding a new job or in transitioning into the new home.
Corporate relocation services also team up with the human resources department at each end to ensure that benefits remain active and that all new insurance cards and primary care providers are in place before the employee and their family arrives.
