Local Storage And Organization

When moving or relocating it is usually a good idea to plan as far in advance as possible, and this often means renting a local storage unit into which many important possessions and household goods can be temporarily relocated.

Why not just deal with the boxes? Many organization experts recommend using moving and relocating as an opportunity to thin out possessions and eliminate those things that you don't use or need. When the boxes begin to pile up, organization is often second to just getting everything packed and ready for moving day.

This means that using a good amount of time and arranging for local storage are the two best ways to enjoy a simplified and yet efficient packing and moving process.

Choosing Local Storage

When it comes time to arrange for the local storage rental, you are going to have many different sizes of 'units' to choose from. Some will be similar to extremely large closets and some will be able to fit several automobiles. You will probably wonder exactly what size is going to work out the best for your needs, and the real answer is going to be based on the final destination on moving day.

What does that mean? When moving day does arrive, will all of the furnishings and possessions be relocated to their permanent home, or will this be a temporary stop on the way to the final destination? If it is only temporary stop, then the local storage unit in the largest size possible is probably the best answer. This is because you will not want to move and then relocate an entire household twice, so the first move should be kept to the minimum.

This is going to require extreme organization and planning, but will actually save time and money in the long run.

Planning and Local Storage

Regardless of the final destination, it is imperative that the local storage unit receive the same attention and organization as the household from which the goods were removed. For example, don't just put boxes and belongings into the unit in any random order, but instead create working paths and place the boxes or items into organized groupings. All linens, books, or collectibles should remain together in a single location to allow for the final moving day to be less stressful and chaos-free.

Finally, once the move has occurred and it is time to return the key and end the local storage and organization rental, make sure you examine the entire space and give it a final sweep with a broom to ensure that no belongings were left behind.
